Gary Tonge's "Bold Visions: the Digital Painting Bible" is truly a digital artist's best friend. If you have ever wanted to draw fantasy islands, know how to use some of Adobe Photoshop's brushes to their absolute best, then this book is a true blessing.

If you are a digital artist, "Bold Visions" is a wonderful way to enhance your skills and broaden your horizons. The book's author is also the illustrator, and he is a concept designer with at least 20 years experience under his belt and he has come out to help digital artists struggling to make that next push into honing in their skills.

A brief summary of things he teaches you are: color and light, concept and design, textures and special effects, humans and other beings, land and spacescapes and structures and vehicles among other subjects.

From the start, the vivid images pull you right into the book and every page is filled with illustrations from talented artists. As you read, Tonge teaches you important information about using layers, as well as the purpose of Photoshop's tools and how to use these tools correctly. Tonge also shows his method of speed painting and building on shapes to make amazing cities in worlds that you create.

If you are interested in digital painting, be it a hobby or career, this book comes highly recommended. With the right tools, this guide and your imagination, you are one step closer to bringing your pictures from beginner to intermediate and advanced levels; you will not be disappointed.

"Bold Visions: The Digital Painting Bible" can be bought at local bookstores for $19.99 or on Amazon.com for $13.59
