Ah, the Internet: A great source of "edu-ma-cation" and entertainment. After all, the Internet brought us Lolcats and Youtube, but as far as entertainment is concerned, the aforementioned are so yesterday.

Welcome to 2010! There are new websites quickly gaining popularity and providing plenty of laugh-out-loud moments that may pop a blood vessel if you are not careful.

So, if you are not sick of the Internet (research and paper writing can do that to you), take the time to visit these emerging yet popular websites.

Ah, Wal-Mart…

One of the funniest-if not one of the cruelest-websites that emerged within the past year is PeopleofWalmart.com. On PoW, people submit photos of every day people shopping at the well-known supercenter.

The great thing about PoW is you never know what you will see: Crazy cat ladies, men dressed as Easter eggs or even people shopping as superheroes.

Yep, just a typical day at Wal-Mart.

One of the reasons why this website is cruel is due to some of the images depicting overweight people, which many people may find offensive. Overall, though, the images show crazy fashions, animals and even a wayward celebrity.

If you are having a bad day, check out PoW for a chuckle.

Oatmeal: It is brain food and funny!

With a mixture of humor and intelligence, theoatmeal.com has enough to keep any person engaged in the site.

The Oatmeal includes plenty of hilarious articles, such as "What to do During a Zombie Apocalypse," but the true gems on this website lie in many of the intelligent articles. One of those articles, "How to Use a Semicolon: The Most Feared Punctuation on Earth," is hilarious, yet educational. For those of you struggling in English classes do check out the punctuation and grammar comics.

Some other comics on the website contain many subjects familiar with us, such as customer service calls and infuriating printers, so these may warrant a slight chuckle given that many of us have experienced these different pains.
