Peregrines righted the ship with a dominant second half to win over IU South Bend on Nov. 24 in the Fitness Center. PUC had previously lost four straight games after winning the first two games of the season.

Turnovers and rebounding were attributed to a final score of 80-66.

Leading the way was center Sara Keilman, a senior majoring in business management and communication, with 13 rebounds and five steals in the game.

"It's about time we started playing defense and rebounding. Usually in games we were getting out-hustled a lot," Keilman said. "Coach told me 'Sara, you're senior-start acting like it,' so my hustling has been more intense."

A back and forth game ensued through the first half with IUSB leading into halftime with a 34-32 lead. PUC stayed with IUSB by winning the second chance points battle 15-4 in the first half.

PUC gained the lead and pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Titans 48-32 to win 80-66. Peregrines shot 39.5 percent from the field compared to IUSB's 32.4 percent.

PUC made more free throws than IUSB shot with 20-29 from the stripe, while the Titans were 9-10 in the game.

"I was really proud of our team's effort," Coach Tom Megyesi said. "From start to finish they played 40 full minutes."

According to guard Jennifer Britton, a junior majoring in elementary education, this was the best win she had ever felt.

"We had [a] lot of region girls on that team, we played against [in high school]," Britton said. "Coach wanted us to win real badly and we went out there with a lot of adrenaline."

Leading scorers for PUC were MeMe Harris with 19, Stephaine Beck with 16 and Britton with 15.
