Elvis decorations fill the room at the Center for Visual and Performing Arts in Munster, ranging from Elvis scarves with signatures of Elvis impersonators in an array of different colors to unique paintings of Elvis Presley. Walls were filled with close-ups of The King's signature clothing and accessories and quotes from Elvis impersonators: "You don't start out trying to be an Elvis impersonator. It's a career that finds you," and "You get the power when you put on the suit like a kid in a Superman suit."

These quotes were among many at The Elvis Tribute Show: A Diamond Jubilee, which is set up by the South Shore Arts to commemorate the 75th birthday of Elvis the King of Rock 'N' Roll and will run from Nov. 12 to Feb. 7, 2010

Along with impersonator quotes were numerous photos of the impersonators portraying The King. The impersonators, who ranged in age, size, and ethnicity has pictures which were unified with never-before-seen pictures of the real Elvis Presley. The photos accented Presley's personality in a mixture of ways. Many admiring fans smiled and commented, "Elvis Presley truly was a down-to-earth individual."

The photos showed Elvis dancing, signing autographs and getting a flu shot, among other activities. Each photo contained an explanation of where, when, and what exactly was taking place in the pictures. Many of the walls were covered with highlights and trivia facts about Elvis and the year of 1956. Surrounding the highlights and trivia were unique paintings of Elvis Presley, some of which left admirers speechless and awed by the passion captured.

Two eye-catching videos also played a part in this wonderful tribute. The video entitled "Almost Elvis" documents the quest Elvis impersonators embark on to win the crown for best impersonator.

The second video shown was the two-disc special edition DVD entitled, "Elvis Complete: The King of Rock 'N' Roll," which follows the birth of Elvis to his unfortunate death. Included in the special edition DVD are a variety of interviews, early photos, and more.

This wonderful tribute is free for anyone under 17 and $2 for everyone else. Sunday, Dec. 6 there will be a free family day celebrating Elvis and "Blue Christmas" from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Kids are encouraged to dress up as Elvis and compete for prizes. There will also be a special Elvis 75th Birthday Bash on January 9, 2010, which will feature Elvis Tribute artist Jerome Marion, along with a food and cash bar. The cost is $25 a person, to make a reservation call 219-836-1839 ext. 100.

Indeed, Elvis was the best and most famous entertainer of all time. I wish I could be at all these tributes.
