For updates on upcoming projects, whether it is a community service project or an SA event, students are encouraged to check their PUC email.

Another topic discussed was emergency preparedness. Bachman, a building deputy for SUL, gave a presentation.

"Emergency preparedness has been highly talked about because of events that have occurred on campus and off campus," Bachman said.

One of the suggestions Bachman made was for students to program PUC's emergency numbers into their cell phones. She advised to use these numbers immediately if anyone sees someone acting suspiciously or if something does not feel right.

Bachman also discussed PUC's new Alert Me system.

"Students asked for the service. PUC has it now, but students need to sign up for it," Bachman said.

PUC's Alert Me system is a text-messaging service students can have programmed into their phones via the PUC website. The system alerts students about weather-related closings and potential dangers on campus.

In regards to weather, Bachman said students need to know where the "storm safe" zones are located. Bachman mentioned the signs located in buildings and classrooms to show where these safety zones are.

"If you're waiting for an elevator, read the material on safety. It's not just there to hang around," Bachman said.

Bachman also showed organization representatives features on the PUC Police Department Web site. Included on the site are ways to report a crime, crime prevention, safety guidelines and the PUC crime log. There is also a silent witness form to anonymously report crimes.

Leticia Toma followed Bachman's speech by discussing Co-Curricular Transcripts, a form all members of student organizations should fill out in order to get credit for the organizations they participated in.

"These forms document what you've done," Toma said in regard to CCT's.

Toma stressed CCT's need to be updated regularly in the database. These forms help in job marketability as well as applying to graduate school. CCT's can be found on the SA website.

For next semester's meeting, student organizations are encouraged to come up with topics they would like to discuss. One topic an audience member suggested was Red Cross training.
