Singing, cultural dances, poetry and even air guitar performances were equally represented during the Nov. 20 performance of PUC's Got Talent in Alumni Hall.
The show was styled very much like "America's Got Talent," with three judges giving their opinions and final judgments on the 19 performers. The president of Thunderclap Recordings, John Carpenter, participated in the judging of the event, as well as the president of Laughing Cat Productions, Carol Moore, and Horseshoe Casino table game supervisor Jennifer Kljaich.
The top three performers of the evening were Deepthi Karanam, coming in at third place with an Indian dance to songs from the film "Slumdog Millionaire." Coming in at second place was Kevin Varner, also known as The Black Godfather, who performed a song he wrote. In first place was Yvonne Wood, who performed her rendition of singer Dido's "White Flag."
Wood, 27, who has been working at the Writing Center since the fall of 2009, said the reason she auditioned in the first place was to lend moral support to a friend who also participated in the show.
Wood mentioned she had no initial illusions about winning.
"This whole ordeal has been a massive shock to me, but also an invaluable time," she said.
The first place prize included gift cards for an undisclosed amount from Best Buy and Albert's Jewelers, as well as four hours of studio recording time, furnished by sponsor Thunderclap Recordings.

In the paper it said more photos would be available online. I was wondering when they will be available?
