PUC isn't just for current students. Alumni from many of PUC's different concentrations of study will be visiting the school once again to participate in Alumni Leader's Day.
Alumni Leader's Day is also when awards are given to the most successful alumni in many of PUC's majors. Some of these majors include Engineering, Communication and Creative Arts, and Teacher Preparation. PUC's faculty chooses the recipients based on the alumnus' professional successes and leadership skills shown after leaving PUC.
Diana Virijevich, the director of annual giving and alumni affairs, said that in choosing the recipients, the alumni program mainly picked former students who have been out of school for ten years or more, have shown major progression within their field, and have had an impact on the company for which they work.
Participation in Alumni Leader's Day is free and open to all students; however, they must register prior to the event. There will be an awards ceremony as well as a panel discussion, so students will have a chance to ask questions at the event. Virijevich encourages students to register and attend, as this is a great opportunity to talk to people that have been successful within their respective fields.
Some of the honorees this year are Denise Hughes of Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, Roman Modrowski of ESPNChicago.com, and Fred C. Keith of Ford Motor Company. In total there are roughly 20 alumni who will receive awards. Last year, 21 people were awarded on Alumni Leader's Day.
