The retail industry is a world of disposable income, where a high luxury item can run on average $2,000. In Hammond, Indiana and especially at PUC this concept of disposable income seems almost laughable. PUC student teaching in Japan

In August, Kenneth Pettigrew will be taking a very long flight across the ocean to Japan where he will teach English to middle school students. Pettigrew, a senior in Philosophy at PUC, has always been interested in embracing different cultures. PUC adopts a new grading system

Starting Fall 2009, PUC will be changing its grading system. It will change depending on the department in which a student is enrolled, from traditional A, B, C, D, F scale and beginning the plus/minus scale, e.g., A-, B+, B- and so on. With this change taking effect next year, professors can now give students a plus or minus letter grade, instead of just the traditional letter grade.… Post the First Comment

Cohen holds campus safety meeting

Recently two people were accosted on campus. This seems to have brought up some questions as to whether or not the campus is as safe as it could be or should be. In an effort to put things at ease, Chancellor Howard Cohen held an emergency preparedness meeting April 28 to allow students and other faculty members a chance to ask questions regarding the safety and security of the school.… Post the First Comment

Is there a case of swine flu at PUC?

A student on campus is being tested for H1N1, or swine flu. The student was observed at the Purdue Student Heatlh Services Center having flulike symptoms. The student was inspected by Maureen Panares, the director of the PSHSC. Once examined, the student was asked to leave the campus.… Post the First Comment

The World Health Organization (WHO) has raised its six-phase pandemic warning level to Phase 5, indicating there is human-to-human transmission in at least two countries in one WHO region. Originating in Mexico, the H1N1 virus has ventured into the United States, among several other countries, and sickened 226 Americans, including 3 confirmed cases in Indiana and 3 confirmed in Illinois with hundreds more suspected.… 1 Comment
