The high-adrenaline shoot-em-up blockbuster "Wanted," from Russian director Timur Bekmanbetov, hit theaters Friday, setting the bar (and a high bar, I might add) for summer action flicks to come. "Wanted" star James McAvoy ("The Last King of Scotland," "Atonement") as Wesley Gibson, a self-acknowledged loser, is depressed and going nowhere in all areas of his life.

'Hancock' disappoints, overhyped by previews

Iowa State Daily, Iowa State University, IA

Every once in a while, a production that has a huge build-up in hype before its release lives up to all the expectations placed on it and is worth the months of trailers and commercials. Will Smith's latest movie, "Hancock," is not that production.

Smith plays Hancock, an amnesiac who wants to remember what happened to his life, who he is and why his body is completely impervious to harm.

CD reviews: G-Unit and Los Lonely Boys

My ears, not to mention my self-esteem, were tired and battered after listening to the newest album from G-Unit, Terminate on Sight (T.O.S.), set to be released today. It is an album riddled with all the bad stereotypes of rap - loud and obnoxious beats, references to violence and drugs, and of course the unrelenting objectification of women.

"There are 26 of us traveling on that old church bus running on vegetable oil playing hopscotch across the country. Yeah, I would definitely call it a circus," 23-year-old Sean Carlson said about his creation, the F*** Yeah Tour (new sibling of the F*** Yeah Fest), while changing lanes on a California highway.

The trailers shown before "WALL-E" were a cold reminder of just how hard it is to make a decent family film these days. The many G-rated travesties soon playing in theaters everywhere will include a pointless sequel to "Madagascar" and something called "Beverly Hills Chihuahua.

"Wanted" Rating: 3 out of 5 stars Universal At Showcase & Quality 16 "I know this defies the laws of gravity, but, you see, I never studied law." - Bugs Bunny This quote may come to mind when one watches "Wanted." Bullets flying across Chicago carve themselves perfectly into the foreheads of bad guys on rooftops.

The walls are lined with photographs of the store's most famous patrons - Johnny Cash shopped here, as did Steve Harvey, Biggie Smalls, Floyd Mayweather Jr., the Tempatations, Star Jones, Cedric the Entertainer and Mike Tyson. Even Kwame Kilpatrick has spent a few of the city's spare dollars there.
